I want a watch. More specifically I want a Tag Heuer Link Chronograph watch. I've been on the lookout for one nearby because I don't trust buying things like jewelry online. I've been disappointed before, so I'm quite familiar with the feeling. It's just not sensible when what you're looking for easily costs $1,000+ and is such a rarity in stores because what happens is you waste your paycheck and the UPS guy delivers a tattered box from China. =/
The watch is supposed to be a gift from my parents for doing so well in school. My dad told me my mom wanted to get me some kind of tacky gold Omega watch, which I think was more for herself after he'd pointed it out. Not so sure about this watch, though. So far, it's only a candidate in the running to be part of my watch collection (I rarely wear jewelry, but almost always have a timepiece on hand). Anyway, I need a watch with the chronograph feature. That kinda stuff always comes in handy with the work I do.
I'm growing tired of my hair. My hair currently hits my inner elbows and bothers the heck out of me. Plus, upkeeping the fringe is a job all on its own. Let's be honest, I'm lazy in the morning. I need something that requires a little less maintenance. I used to be able to roll out of bed, not even having to brush my hair, and it'd look perfectly fine. At times I'd even get compliments and, to this day, I still wonder how the hell that was all possible. Now that it has gotten so long, I have get up, dampen it, blow dry or straighten the very ends, and apply some product. That is 30 minutes of valuable time that could be spent doing something of greater importance like sleep or homework. My solution is to chop it off. I'm considering a medium length cut like the one to the right since I have an oval face. Heck, I might even throw in some highlights if I'm feeling risky. I typically keep my hair all one color, but maybe it's time for a change.
And although summer is almost over, I'm still searching for a pair of Pierre Hardy gladiator sandals from Gap. I've only seen the ones with the little blue strip down the middle. I mean, they're okay, but I am literally dying to get my hands on a pair of these dark brown ones.
Aren't they lovely?
Anyway, I'm glad school is over so I'm getting a little break from summer sessions and waiting for the actual fall semester to commence in mid-August. I'm dreading taking 7 courses. That's 24 units, in case you're wondering. Six online courses and a Chemistry lecture/lab deal with the same Dr. H from last sem. I hope he remembers me because it would make a big difference in whether or not he replies to my discussion board posts. He's more likely to pay attention to you in class if you're a familiar face, so when Iyou've got a concerned look - he notices and directly asks if you understood the material. He's also more apt to give students a couple of "effort" points on exams when you answered incorrectly. Hopefully I can pass all 7 courses, I want an easy spring semester.
not exactly clogging up the roads, as yet, but you know, we people (you know eeerrr,,, humans) always innovate in our own way... as fuel runs out and becomes outrageously expensive (not of course because we are running out on the planet, but because Oil companies and energy suppliers are getting greedier and greedier and they are allowed to do it).. so put on another jumper (so says the boss of Centrica) "thanks gitto" - do you think he'll be wearing 2 jumpers ??! we'll all be out in the forests, stealing wood, trying to make ends meet till you die (thanks The Verve),, horses & carts will be back, it just about has to be the most environmentally friendly way to get around, they eat grass, and let you run around on them... and they're a good deal faster than the 20 mph Golf Cart buggies that they are taxing and allowing on the Roads in the USA, where some people are having a go at beating the fuel problem... has anyone head of horses there ?? even the Police are using them, although I don't think they'll be any fast 'getaways' in them, and they might have to think about the safety of an open-cart buggy on the roads... the picture tickled me though... seems like you could walk faster, or even cycle (you know its one of those recent new fangled inventions, 2 wheels - unbelievable what they can do these days) and it would keep you fitter, unless you're incapacitated, then you would be in a wheelchair anyway,, can they go on roads ?? not sure... here's the pici and the story.. I liked it anyway

A Wall Street Journal columnist has advised people to "start stockpiling food" and an ABC News Report says "there are worrying signs appearing in the United States where some … locals are beginning to hoard supplies." Now there's concern that the U.S. government may be competing with consumers for stocks of storable food.
"We're told that the feds bought the entire container of canned butter when it hit the California docks. (Something's up!)," said officials at Best Prices Storable Foods in an advisory to customers.
Spokesman Bruce Hopkins told WND he also has had trouble obtaining No. 10 cans of various products from one of the world's larger suppliers of food stores, Oregon Freeze Dry.
To tell you the truth, I couldn't believe it myself. I've always been a big fan of Journey and now there's even more reason to like them - Arnel Pineda. He's the newest lead singer of the band and he's from the Philippines [Woohoo!], but I still say Steve Perry still rocks in my book.
And I guess this makes up for the video I put up of Janina San Miguel winning the Miss Philippines Pageant. Oy.
Nothing too out of the ordinary has gone on this week, I have not even found any good things to photograph!
I did get new running shoes. I really couldn't afford a new Pair of Pearl's so I finally chose some Nikes. They felt OK on the treadmill. I like that the heel cups are nice and narrow and seem to hold on to my foot. the color is hideous.
But so are the Pearls, so I am used to wearing bad looking shoes. The Pearls are not quite retired, but very close. I ran Seven miles in the Pearls today and was less than pleased. But I am unsure if its the shoe, or if I was just tired.
The run itself was OK. I hadn't run Seven since JANUARY this year, so it was a little trying on the later hills. I was pretty happy with the time, especially because I am training on some big hills and neither my Half or full Marathon have Huge hills towards the end of the race. So, I am starting to get very excited. I might actually make it to the starting line for the races I intended in the latter half of 2008.
Going to try out the less expensive (by some amount) Triax tomorro on the treadmill.
On a trainer Vacation....There is not a special until Aug 17th. Trainer is going to try to talk the PT manager into letting me have the special early. She's OK that way. Very supportive of my slow plodding.
Work has been busy. I had a great experience of taking care of a man with essentially a dying heart. I told him really the only way to fix his problem is a Pacemaker. He sort of freaked out, wanting to take a pill or something.... three days later by chance I ran into the patient and his wife leaving the hospital post Pacemaker insertion. He was all smiles, thanked me profusely, and looked great. I rarely get to see the results, just the beginning, so it was really neat. I'm glad he is doing well.
Eating is not fun. I had an appointment with the nutritionist today. She and I seemed to be at odds. It was odd. I had had a lovely lovely day, then sitting in the waiting area, I just really wanted to leave. I'm starting to really feel resistant to the meal template. Just once I would like to eat what I want, but it's not really happening. I have MD tomorro again. I have plans for things to be better, but he may come up with something totally different.
Otherwise, lots of rain and thunder and lightening as usual.
its a strange thing the Mercury Music Prize, because, where does the Mercury bit come in, is it something to do with the periodical table, or the Mercurial delights of the nominees,,, well , what can you say about the nominees, you wonder where these people choosing this stuff get off... Robert Plant ??!! an album so dismal and lacking in any musical merit, its unlistenable dirge washes over you as you imagine the old rocker in some room with Alison Krauss, yuckeroo,,, and Radiohead, its hardly their best work, Adele ??!! c'mon , your having a laugh aren't you ?? the thing about it is that they obviously keep on picking bands who almost immediately fade into obscurity,, so they have had to pick a few recognisable ones this year to give the thing some credibility, as its already a laughing stock... but the albums have to be a bit 'lefty' of field, otherwise why not have done with it and choose Sugarbabes and Take That.. we'll see how long we have to put up with Adele for, another album packed full of nostalgia for those kiddies who have never heard any soul music before.. cripes... if it was any good or any use to anyone apart from the huge major labels pushing the 'same-old-same-old' you would have a large number of unknowns, Blues bands, Indie Acts, R&B artists, (Estelle is good live but its a very boring album),, , country, rappers, where are all the successful Asian UK Asian acts ???!!! c'mon, Robert Plant??, the album is ******' tripe.

sounds like a Rock ‘n’ Roll star doesn’t he... was there someone called Duane Chambers in the MC5 or something ? there’s Duane Allman, was he the one married to Cher ?? a quick lookup on goolies would find that out, but who can be ******’ bothered with all the gooolie s***... Aren’t all athletes pummelling bucket loads of enhancement drugs down their gobs,,, I would , when there’s only a millionth of a second in some races.. its obvious just looking at their superhuman efforts that they are all high on mega body-boosting drugs, whether they be slightly illegal, slightly legal, the fact of the matter being is THEY ARE GETTING AWAY WITH IT, and Duane Chambers got caught.. I don’t know what the British Athletics Association are doing, its obvious he can run twice as fast as anyone else even without any drugs, and they won’t let him in the Olympics... who ******’ cares whether he takes drugs or not, certainly not me... at the Age of 16 I could barely get out of bed in the mornings, let alone commit myself to endless years of getting up at 4 am every day, running for 10 miles, all day long practice, superhuman efforts, they are the superheroes of our times, and all we get is ******* Kylie this, and ******’ Madonna that and those little c**** on Big Brother, let Chambers in, and the rest of them, make it an even playing field by getting rid of doping tests... they are inaccurate, sporadic, badly executed, unscientific, lacking in parity, and clarity... Duane, looksie here, your a hero, I’m on your side.. **** ‘em ... what ******’ makes me laugh, is, that ugly **** model bird, you know, gappy teeth, takes a load of drugs with Pete (I can barely lift a guitar pick) Doherty, wotsername, and she lands a trillion dollar deal with Revlon,,, the Irony is making her stink, but not from Channel, more from poo poo. What they don’t like about Duane Chambers is that he comes across as arrogant, and ofcourse he is black, the BAA being a load of racist b*******, if it was Paula Radcliffe she would have been back in like a shot.
Just got the Warner Herzog box set, I’ll be reveiwing later!
in a way it should be renamed the 50th element, so many film releases, yet TV stations have only bought 4 films, one of them being the 5(0)th element... so relentless is their insistence on battering us with endless repeats... its an ok film, but not when its been on 500 times, who is watching all this stuff ?? and typical CH4, anything good like the Sopranos, Larry David is on about midnight, who is up at this time ?? I have to praise the new comedy LabRats, old format, which actually looks quite innovative compared with the endless tripe masquerading as comedy at the moment .. it just goes to show the 'whacky' does not necessarily a good comedy make, just good writing and believable characters,,, another winner from Armando Iannucci , I am a big fan of 'In the Thick of It'... this is one consistent and quality writer, great stuff.. if only TV had more people like this...
I am thinking of writing a song called 'Id wish Id had a life of crime'.. it would be a field day for those trying to spot grammatical errors... it could be semi-autobiographical, I can hear the chorus now, "I'd wished I'd had a life of crime, but all that's happened has rubbed my nose in the grime" to a Dolly Parton sorta tune... I can see myself at the Country Music Awards now, 'many thanks for this brilliant Award, I'd like to thank my vocal coach and the postman'.. because crime (not grime!) does pay... look at the News of the World, consistently crap, a crime against paper, yet raking it in, who buys this rubbish ?? then Canada... environmentally friendly types with prison for anyone not separating their waste in to 20 different types of recycled materials, and Jail for anyone found catching a lobster before all the Inuits have had theirs... and irony on irony - most of Alberta is now turned over to the most environmentally damaging form of surface mining, extracting Oil from sand,, greedy wee people churning up their land for a few extra dollars... a life of crime, I wish I had it in me to defame the public and rape the landscape,,, big money for all.. what a world.. eerrr 'News of the World'
Today was a bit eventuful. I got run off the road into a ditch. It was a little alarming as the undercarriage was hot and the ditch was full of water so this illusion of my engine smoking occurred right away. I wondered for a minute there if my car was going to explode.
I am so so lucky. I was off the road in front of a Nursing Home at 7 am (Shift change). The maintanence guy stopped, pulled me out and checked my tires and engine entirely. All is well....lots of mud and weeds stuck in the area. Scary though. I have to go back to Winter Park on Weds next week. I guess I'll drop by woth donunts. It was super nice of him.
After that excitement, I had my appointment with the Doctor. It was alright. I'm in a bind. I'm impatient. He suggested a double session (which is like 2-3 hours...) so we can try to open things up and shut them down. He was a bit annoying today, but I was already annoyed due to my unpleasant car experience. I think he was purposefully goading me and I was just getting more and more annoyed. Not sure when that double session will occur. He's pretty tied up. I have appointments out to August, so I guess it might be somewhere in late August.
I'm so tired from all that excitement. I still have a little training to do. We shall see how that will go...right now I am going to relax, let my snack digest and have a coffee....
Whew.
