goodbye
I debated whether to post something about this or not, but I decided I would. My grandfather passed away Monday, Feb 26 around 1800. He was a great man, and will be missed by many. When I get time I'll write a proper post. Until then, here's his obituary-
Lysle Charles Tuckfield (“Mr. T”)
Our beloved husband,
father, grand-father, and friend completed his earthly mission Feb. 26,
2007 at his home in Salt Lake City after a 10 year battle with cancer.
He touched the lives of many through his example and kindness. He was
born Apr. 10, 1925, to Ebba Rachel Hokanson and Charles James
Tuckfield.
Lysle grew up in Sugarhouse, graduated from South
High School, served as a pilot in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World
War II, and served an LDS Mission to Sweden, the land of his ancestors.
He was sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple to Jean Williams Nelson.
Together this couple began a life of adventure. They had seven
children, enjoyed traveling and the great outdoors, and he returned to
Sweden with his sweetheart where they served another LDS mission.
Lysle
was an active and faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints and served valiantly in many church positions
throughout his life. He loved his work with the youth, both in Church
and in his 30 year career in Murray as teacher and principal.
He earned a Master’s Degree from the U of U, was a skilled
carpenter, and was actively involved in community affairs. His
harmonicas often entertained many. His deepest love was for his family
and his religion. Nothing gave him greater joy than to gather
together with his family, especially in the great outdoors.
Lysle is preceded in death by his parents and one
great-granddaughter. He is survived by his wife, seven children –
Christine Cox, Charlotte Tuckfield, L. Reed (Laurie) Tuckfield,
Patricia (Dennis) Clark, Sandra Blank, Janet (Karl) Steadman, Michael
(Katrina) Tuckfield, twenty grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, a
brother Ralph (Julie) Tuckfield, a sister Fern Tucker, and other loving
nieces and nephews, and wonderful brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws.
Viewings will be held Fri. Mar. 2 from 6-8 pm at Holladay
Cottonwood Mortuary 4670 Highland Dr., and one hour prior to funeral
services. The funeral will begin at 11:00 am Sat. Mar. 3 at the
Garden Heights Ward, 2220 E. Fisher Lane (2935 So.) Interment, Mountain
View Memorial Estates.
The family wishes to thank Harmony Hospice for their loving help with his care.
